WILMINGTON, MA, -With the January 2005 deadline for U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) compliance deadline at hand, the AM250 barometric altimeter from AMETEK Aerospace & Defense offers a readily available, cost-effective solution for new and retrofit light jets and other aircraft that fly between 29,000 and 41,000 feet.

The AM-250 altimeter was developed jointly by AMETEK and Honeywell, Inc. to address the market need for a high-accuracy, dual altimeter system that is RVSM compliant.  The AM-250 integrates the proven reliability of an AMETEK Aerospace cockpit indicator with Honeywell’s highly accurate silicon pressure sensor.

The result is the best combination of cost-effective technology and available cockpit instrument design for a broad range of business jets and turbo prop aircraft.  The AM-250 altimeter is TSO approved and ideal for both new production and RSVM retrofit upgrades.

In addition to full analog and altitude liquid crystal displays, the AM-250 has two solid-state liquid crystal displays to indicate barometric offset in hectoPascals or inches/millimeters of Hg.  A rotary encoder and push button switch allow the entry of barometric offset and auto barometric set.  The barometer is internally lighted to ensure optimal viewing in daytime and nighttime conditions.

The AM-250 is currently certified RSVM compliant on Cessna Citation I, II, Super II, V, CitationJet, CitationJet I and II, Daussault Falcon 10 and 20, Gulfstream II and IIB, Lear 31, 35 and 36, and Pilatus PC-12, Socata TBM-700, Beech 400 and MU-300.  It is an excellent choice for non-RVSM-compliant aircraft that require an accurate and dependable altimeter.

AMETEK Aerospace & Defense is a leader in engine and aircraft monitoring systems, data acquisition units, fuel and fluid measurement systems, cockpit instruments and displays, engine and airframe sensors, cables, harness assemblies, avionics blowers, fans, and heat transfer and cooling systems.  It is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electric motors with annualized sales of more than $1.2 billion.
